Triumph in the Skies

Triumph in the Skies II takes place a few years after airline pilot captain Sam (Francis Ng) marries Zoe (Myolie Wu), a passenger service agent who was born with a severe heart condition. When Zoe dies, the introverted and mournful Sam resigns his position as pilot captain and spends a long vacation in England. There, he meets the heartbroken student pilot Holly (Fala Chen), who convinces him to return to Hong Kong to join Skylette Airlines.

   KO CHI-WANG, ROY, now a First Officer, has joined Skylette Airlines and is partnering his bosom buddy TONG YIK-FUNG, ISSAC for a long-haul flight to London. ROY runs into his one-time colleague CHING YAT-TUNG,TONY in his new company, who then introduces him to MATTHEW, another captain serving at Skylette. While chit-chatting with his workmates, ROY learns that it is Captain KOO HA-YEUNG, JAYDEN, more commonly known as COOL MORT, whom he will be working along with on the forthcoming flight. ROY tries to phone JAYDEN who fails to arrive for duty on time, which offends the captain and subsequently causes himself much trouble at work. Before the aircraft takes off, Flight Purser LING CHEUK-CHI, COCO discovers the fashion model KATE and the business tycoon LI in the business-class cabin. Having peeked at the note that JAYDEN left for KATE earlier, COCO comes to realize that KATE has become JAYDEN’s newest target……

   After ZOE’s birthday party, SAM and ISSAC go to have a pint at a pub, during which they share about how they are getting on in recent years. Having heard what SAM says about his life in London, ISSAC hints that it is time for him to come back. SAM returns home and goes through the old photos of himself as a pilot. While thinking of his wife ZOE in her dying days, he hears somebody sneaking around the house all of a sudden. Quickly he runs out to have a look, and is shocked to see HOLIDAY who has nipped back home to get her stuff. HOLIDAY is so broke that she has to sell her ex-boyfriend’s leather jacket in exchange for money. Coincidentally, the leather jacket is bought by JAYDEN who has only just arrived in Paris. In the middle of the flight, COCO reveals to JAYDEN that KATE is flying on the same plane with them. KATE asks to have a word with JAYDEN, but is rejected……

   JAYDEN catches Editor PANSY taking surreptitious photos of him, and the girl wishes him good luck in his forthcoming aerobatic performance with Airbus A330 over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor. The event is of great concern to KING KA-CHUN,ADRIAN, General Manager of Skylette Airlines, as he is trying to establish JAYDEN as the star pilot of the corporation. CHUN reveals to TUNG that he is also planning on inviting SAM, the first Chinese captain in history, to join Skylette. ISSAC would like to take part in JAYDEN’s aerobatic performance as his assistant, so JAYDEN decides to let him have a simulated test. COCO asks PUI and ROY why they have to compete with ISSAC. ROY, on the other hand, is also clueless why COCO is so eager to stand up for ISSAC while showing no regard at all for PUI’s feelings. ISSAC is in a bad mood and decides to give SAM a call to share his thoughts……

   Aircraft Maintenance Technician KOO HA-SUN, SUMMER, who bears an uncanny resemblance to SAM’s late wife ZOE, is well respected and trusted by her colleagues. JAYDEN learns from his colleagues that SUMMER is already back to Skylette, so he goes to the maintenance hangar and waits for her return. SUMMER, however, remains incredibly indifferent to JADYEN all through their conversation. ISSAC comes to realize that SUMMER and ZOE are two different people, and that there must be a close bond between SUMMER and JAYDEN. Later he reveals to SAM how he met SUMMER and how he mistook her for ZOE. On SAM’s first day of service with Skylette, JAYDEN means to adjust his work schedule so that he can take the same flight as SAM. JAYDEN expresses doubts about SAM and his decisions throughout the flight. Hoping to see SUMMER more often, JAYDEN seeks to move into her residence by making use of his relations with the various flight attendants……

   JAYDEN gets tricked and is subsequently arrested by the police. SUMMER goes to the police station to bail him out, but they have a terrible quarrel shortly afterwards. Getting so depressed about his relationship with SUMMER, JADYEN goes for a walk at the pier, where he runs into PANSY and soon starts flirting with her. ISSAC tries every possible means to prevent SAM from meeting SUMMER. SAM would like to recruit some new blood with a passion for aviation and train them to become pilots. His idea is well supported by TONY, ADRIAN and the chief executive of a sponsoring company Mr HEUNG. SAM decides to name the recruitment scheme “Pre-Pilot Project”, abbreviated as “PPP”. Due to some misunderstanding, Mr HEUNG decides to withdraw his sponsorship for PPP……
