   In the aftermath of World War II, Hong Kong sees the heavy influx of refugees: Between the 40's and 50's, there is a phenomenal growth with a great disparity between the rich and the poor. WEI-NAN lost his parents in childhood and lives in an environment of complexity. He brings up his younger brother WEI-CHI and sister MEI-FENG through personal efforts. But WEI-CHI, a loafer, wheels and deals for a living, much to the distress of his brother. Rich merchant TUNGKANG selects jewellery for his mistress YIN.HSUEH-YEN in a goldsmith, and is taken hostage when a robbery, occurs. While the thugs are entangled by the police, TUNG KANG jumps into WEI-NAN’s car and drives away from the hail of bullets on the spot. HSUEH-YEN, a beautiful and intelligent modern girl, has an illicit relationship with TUNO KANG, who is infatuated with her. His wife HSIU-CHU often quarrels with him over this, much to the annoyance of TUNG KANG……

2. E2. Episode 2

   Discovering by chance the bandits’ whereabouts, WEI-NAN secretly informs the police, leading to the arrest of the bandits, and gets a reward. WEI-NAN and his family are facing eviction as a result of the landlord's plan to repossess the premises for reconstruction. WEI-NAN finds TUNG KANG to be the landlord and developer when he comes to thank WEI-NAN for his bravery, having read this in the paper. When WEI-NAN refuses to accept money from him, TUNG KANG agrees to give up the reconstruction plan to allow them continued occupation of the premises, much to the delight of all. TUNG KANG and HSUEH-YEN pair off to attend the cocktail party for the opening of HSUEH-YEN's cosmetics company. HSIU-CHU deliberately attends it in full dress against TUNG KANG's objection, to exhibit her identity as his wife, much to the embarrassment of HSUEH-YEN……

3. E3. Episode 3

   Wei-nan decides to apply to be a police with Tao Chin. Although he is not familiar with the current affairs, he is still chosen to be trained, Wei-chi always shows off in front of his friends for his brother is a policeman. He therefore becomes the idol of the drop-outs. Hsiu-chu is spiteful to Wen-ching for she hates that TungKang is so nice to her. Jong, a friend of Hsiu-chu, blackmails Tung Kang. Tung Kang is so angry that he forces Jong to leave Hong Kong. Since there is rumor that. Hsiu-chu and Tung Kang do not agree with each other, Tung Kang prepares to hold a party on the twentieth anniversary of their marriage.

4. E4. Episode 4

   Tung Kang asks Wen-hui, who is jealous of Wen-ching, to go to buy clothes and jewelries with Wen-Ching for the party. Hsueh-yen pities Wen-Ching and is willing to look after list. Under the guidance of Hsueh-yen, Wen-ching becomes a novel girl now. On the night of the party, the dress of Wen-thing is destroyed by Wen-hui. Fortunately, Hsueh-yen has prepared another one for her. Since Wen-ching feels that Wei-nan is an honest young man, she volunteers to be his friend. But Wei-nan avoids her for he thinks he cannot match her. Wei-nan and Tao chin ate now the police. Tao Chin is smart and gets a rapid progress. But since Wei-nan is too straight forward, he can't win the favor of his comrades.

5. E5. Episode 5

   Wei-chi gets a dispute with Wen-hui and fights with the drop-outs. Since wei-nan handles it straightly, he is appreciated. The love of Ying and Chi-mei to Wei-nan is not rewarded. But Wei-nan and Wen-ching become good friends. Wei-nan is more confident while Wen-thing is more lively and mature. Wen-hui is jealous of Wen-thing for she has such a good boy-friend. So she interferes the date of Wen-thing and Wei-nan. Although embarrassed, they can understand each other more.

6. E6. Episode 6

   Once when Wei-nan is on duty, he saves a girl regardless of his own life. He is appreciated and becomes a C.I.D. too. Wen-ching is surprised and embarrassed when she finds that there is something between Hsueh-yen and her father. But knowing the true fact, she admires her.. Seeing that they are so friendly with each other, Hsiu-chu wants to marry Wen-ching to a rich man. Wen-ching is angry with it and brings Wei-nan home to show her standpoint. Although Tung Kang is happy to know it, he is afraid that Wei-nan is so honest that he may do wrong to him. Therefore he bribes Wei-nan with a flat.
