The story begins in the early 20th century, when policeman Sergeant TSU teams up with comprador Mr. KING in the arrest of a thief in Hong Kong. The victim of theft, ROBINSON, is happy to recover the stolen painting and decides to get the duo a portrait of themselves as a token of thanks. During the painting session, TSU and KING keep staring at each other with a hostile expression… The story moves into the present day with the TSUs being pestered by a broadband services salesman. The head of the family TSU HON-FEI is very unhappy with the salesman and tries to scare him off by boasting about his strong police family background. The salesman can tell immediately that FEI’s eldest son KWOK-ON and his second son KWOK-LEUNG are not policemen. Actually SIU-LAI, the youngest daughter of FEI, is the only family member who serves in the police force……

After a thorough investigation, HANG and his team discover that the prime suspect CHEUNG WAH-CHIU was actively involved in the electioneering campaign for KEUNG years ago during the District Council Election, which makes them believe that KEUNG is perhaps trying to return the favor by providing CHIU with an alibi. POK’s aunt KING CHI would like to match him up with a girl but the girl’s background does not really meet the expectations of his parents KING YIN and TSEUNG WAI-CHU. To find out why KEUNG did not hear the shots, HANG and LAI go to consult POK at his laboratory. POK agrees to offer help and has a site visit with them. HANG’s team finally manages to crack the case, which gives KIU a great thrill. To express her appreciation for her staff and POK, KIU invites them to a barbecue party at her mansion……

LAI is questioned by HANG and MAN PAK-CHU following the sudden disappearance of the fingerprints. HANG and LAI go to the university to consult POK again. Knowing that POK only sees the matter as a fun game to play, LAI gets a little irritated as she will have to rely on his findings and analyses to prove her innocence. POK conducts an onsite investigation, during which he seems to be quite interested in a bundle of electric wires which run through the property office. Inspired by a series of incidents, POK can finally solve the intriguing puzzle. LAI treats POK to dinner at a famous Chinese restaurant, after which they go back home individually. On her way to the MTR station, LAI spots POK eating spaghetti inside a western restaurant. The murderer is finally arrested and HANG offers to treat his staff to a celebration supper……

Someone warns on the Internet that the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be bombed real soon. To avoid any possible eventuality, the Regional Crime Unit is put in charge of the security operation around the Centre. LAI who is on duty inside the Centre is shocked to hear that POK is the winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award in Physics. It is not until this point that she comes to realize that POK is an internationally renowned physicist. While watching a football match on TV, HANG gets a call from a taxi driver, who is taking KA’s Brazilian friend RACHEL to his home. HANG is so captivated by RACHEL’s beauty and vivacity. He needs to keep reminding himself of her relationship with KA so as to resist her seduction. The 3-year-old CHAN CHI-MAN is suspected to have been poisoned, and LAI is assigned to handle the case……

Accompanied by HANG and his staff, POK and a team of research assistants have arrived with a full set of equipment to carry out a thorough investigation at the reportedly haunted apartment. LAI and POK bring MAN to an ophthalmology center for an eyesight test, through which they find that the boy is able to see the light which cannot be detected by ordinary human eyes. Curious to know whether MAN can really see the dead, LAI and POK go to Lantau Island to look for a Taoist priest. On their way back, the pair get lost amid heavy rain. In the confusion, LAI trips and twists her ankle. Due to the geographical isolation of the area, they get very poor mobile reception and can hardly seek help by phone. POK takes LAI to a pavilion nearby so that she can have a rest. The following day, POK is shocked to discover that LAI has fallen unconscious due to the serious inflammation of her hand wound……

LAI goes out for dinner with ON and his family, during which an acid-filled bottle suddenly falls onto the street and injures a number of pedestrians. HEI attends an admission interview with an elite school. Although he has made quite an impression on the principal, he is not selected in the end because of his parents’ poor performance. LEUNG finally manages to convince LAI to consult POK for him, although POK has turned him down already some time earlier. A conference has been postponed, so POK can find time to help LEUNG. He suggests conducting a series of experiments to collect more data, but would need an assistant to help with the process. LEUNG is not available for the tests, so LAI offers to be POK’s assistant on the experiment day. HANG and his team suppose they have arrested the prime suspect for the acid attack, but their guess turns out to be all wrong. POK manages to prove LEUNG’s innocence with his expert analysis……
