This show follows a middle-class family of five, each with their own distinct personality. Pang Cheong is a retired tailor living with his family in Shatin. Being a male chauvinist, he orders around the house, screaming and yelling frequently at his wife Suet Fong. Fong is a traditional woman, patient and understanding. But their neighbour Suk Lan finds the attitude of Pang Cheong unbearable. She criticizes his non-gentleman manners and the two ends up quarrelling in the street. Suk Lan's daughter Chiu Man is a college student. One day, she is cycling around with her new bicycle, to the irritation of Pang Cheong. Pang Cheong encourages a group of children to spoil the bicycle. To his dismay, he later discovers the new bicycle is actually a birthday gift from his daughter-in-law to his younger son Wai Kit, but delivered to the wrong place.

Pang Cheong does not get along well with his daughter-in-law Ching Ching. While he thinks that she is too dominating and un-respectful, she finds him being too harsh and unfair to her husband Wai Chiu. They exchange hard words at each other when Ching Ching refuses to pay homage to the ancestors. Ching Ching is a money-minded woman. Seeing the price of properties going up, she decides to sell her own flat. But failing in time to find a new flat herself, she has no choice but to stay temporarily with Wai Chiu's family.

But Ching Ching resolves to stay with the family, so that she could save up the rental money.

Ching Chun recovers from the bad memory and dresses beautifully to meet her new boyfriend. Unfortunately, she meets a naughty boy on her way. The boy spills ink to her dress. She is very mad and ties him up. Kam On passes by and laughs at the naughty boy. The boy's father mistakenly thinks Kam On mistreating his son and beats him up. Kam On goes to the restaurant for dim sum and meets Pang Cheong's family. He then knows Ching Chun and becomes friend with her. Kam On's mother-in-law comes back from Canada and visits Kam On. Accidentally, Ching Chun is at Kam On's room. The mother-in-law misunderstands Kam On as betrayal to her daughter.

One day by accident, Wai Kit puts footprint on Ah Man's clothes. Ah Man is mad with him and a wait chance of taking revenge. Christine is Ah Man's schoolmate. Wai Kit meets her and wants to make friend with her. As Ching Chun knows that Wai Kit has no girlfriend. She then arranges him to meet one. However, the girl turns out not to be the type he wants. On one occasion, Christine loses her contact lens on the ground. Wai Kit passes by and helps to search but fails. He then invites her to visit his place. However, Ching Chun has already introduced another girl to Wai Kit. She gets drunk at Wai Kit's room. As Christine meets both of them at the bedroom, she runs away with fear. The romance blows up.
