The Dehradun-based Joshi family has resided in government-allocated quarters for the past 25 years. Sarla Joshi (Supriya Pathak) is the principal of a government school, and her husband Umesh Joshi (Manoj Pahwa) is a poet. They have two kids Chakori Dwivedi, and Poojan Chhabra. The Joshis are about to embark on a momentous journey to make their dream home, and each has their own specifications. But they have just three months to build their dream home with Sarla's retirement approaching. The ensuing comedy and chaos are the bedrock of the series.
