The Vendetta

1. E1. Episode 1

   Episode 1 Cheng Tan sends Cheng Hua and Chen Chi to smuggle fake wine into Shanghai. Taking them unawares, Chou Yung blows it up and takes them to task. As policeman Ho Cho is bringing his men to round them up, Chou and the others escape. Cho Wen later captures Chou Yung, but considering their erstwhile friendship and in the absence of ample evidence, Cho lets Chou go. Tu Hsiao-tien orders to torture rebel Hsu Ping brought back by his men. Feeling guilty, Chou Yung tries to persuade him against this but fails, and acts accordingly. Hsiao-tien later teaches him the necessity of playing tough in the underworld, adding that he will someday be put in charge of the clan. Hisao-tien has a favorite mistress Li Pei-chi, a versatile person, but hesitates to marry her due to his daughter Hsi-ya's objection. Unable to marry into the Tus, Pei-chi feels displeased at heart……

2. E2. Episode 2

   Pei-chi guns down Cheng Hua while he is trying to escape, and then rushes Hsiao-tien to hospital for emergency treatment. Chou Yung and Hsi-ya hear of the news while in the act of going to the airport to meet Tu Wei-lun, a returned student from Japan, and rush immediately by car to hospital. They are, however, stopped by British soldiers near the British Concession, but get over only through Chou's stick-and-carrot approach. It appears that Cheng Tan bribed the British soldiers into putting off Chou Yung and company while sending a killer to hospital to kill Hsiao-tien. Luckily, Wei-lun arrives in the nick of time to bump off the killers, then combine with the others to rush Hsiao-tien back home for emergency treatment. Apparently Cheng Tan acted on information from Hsu Ping, but to stop him from revealing the truth, he ordered Chen Chi to kill him to destroy the evidence……

3. E3. Episode 3

   Hsiao-chun and Gigi spend some time in the country villa. They witness how Wei-lun uses ferocious means to handle a thief. Hsiao-chun finds his character disgusting. Hsiao-tien recovers from the coma. He relinquishes all his businesses to Chou Yung, which antagonizes Wei-lun. Cheng Tan employs Lei Kang, the fast gunner, to kill Chou Yung. Chou detects signs of danger and anticipates Lei's attack. As the two men confront each other in a duel, Hsi-Ya comes to the scene. Lei Kang agrees not to harm Hsi-ya so that Chou can concentrate in the duel. Lei Kang loses because of over-confidence. As Lei keeps his promise of not hurting Hsi-ya, Chou let him go. Hsi-ya grows to worry for Chou Yung more and more. She tries to persuade Chou to withdraw from the underworld affairs. But Chou refuses her plea because to do so would disappoint Hsiao-tien. Hsi-ya is in great distress……

4. E4. Episode 4

   Apr 21, 1988 · 43m

   As Hsiao-tien gradually recovers, Chou suggests revenge on Cheng Tan. Hsiao-tien does not want to distress Hsi-ya and turns down the idea. Hsiao-tien seeks help from Tung Pai-nien who would act as conciliator to end the rivalries between Hsiao-tien and Cheng Tan. To pay due respects to Pai-nien, Cheng Tan agrees to reconcile with Hsiao-tien. Cheng Tan then asks Lei Kang to forget about killing Chou. But Lei wants to avenge for his previous defeat. As soon as his injuries are healed, he would invite Chou for another duel. Hsiao-tien arranges Chou to become the manager of Hsia Fei Restaurant so that he could start doing legal businesses. So as not to upset Hsi-ya, Chou reluctantly accepts the offer. As Chouis spending more time on the restaurant, Wei-lun seizes the opportunity to establish his influence over the casino. But when Hsiao-tien finds out, he was severely reprimanded……

5. E5. Episode 5

   Apr 22, 1988 · 43m

   Hsiao-chun finds Wei-lun unbearable. She fakes having a headache, hoping to leave early. Unluckily for her, Hsiao-tien asks Wei-lun to ride her back. The ride ends up in greater antagonism between the two. Wei-lun plans to make use of Pai-nien's influence to strengthen his power. Marrying Hsiao-chun is the means. Both Hsiao-tien and Pai-nien agrees to the marriage. Hsiao-chun strongly objects. Jui-fang stole away the stakes money from the casino. The manager discovers it and forces her to give the money back. Yung Kuei rescues Jui-fang and both of them escape. Jui-fang feels greater affection towards Yung Kuei. Chou Yung plans to expand the restaurant. He has a mind to the pottery shop next to the restaurant. But Chen Chi also wants to use the place for a new casino. The owner's wife has been fed up with Chen Chi's ferocity. She sells the shop to Chou. Chen Chi takes it as a challenge from Chou. He decides to take revenge……

6. E6. Episode 6

   Apr 25, 1988 · 39m

   Hsiao-tien is thrown into great sorrows when he learns of his daughter's death. Chou is in deep agony and swears vengeance. He sends his men out to find out the whereabouts of Chen Chi. He suspects it is the doing of an inside man. Wei-lun kills the driver and succeeds in convincing Chou that the driver is the culprit. In a raid to capture Chen Chi, Chou causes an injury to a foreign woman. Foreign residents assert pressure on the District Director. Both Hsiao- tien and Cheng Tan are given warning to stop large-scale gang fights, or they would be eradicated. Hsiao-tien concedes and gives up revenging. Chou wouldn't agree. He swears to get Chen Chi, even though he has to leave the Clan. His two followers; Ah Ho and Ah Yung stand by him. Chou starts his own casino, but is soon raided by Cho Wen and his team. Cho Wen persuades Chou to join the police force. Chou refuses……
