   Ernie Doyle, a man separated from his wife, abducts his children and threatens to harm them and himself. Jessica Novak, a local TV news reporter, often goes beyond her assigned stories, much to her boss's frustration. In one instance, she uncovers a non-story about a housewife, Marilyn Doyle, whose estranged husband, Ernie, has taken their two children. Despite orders from her boss, Jessica relentlessly investigates the case even when the police refuse to intervene. She goes as far as featuring the housewife on the news.
