Ray regains his memory. Using the latest in medical technology, he works frantically to save the life of his lover Dr Angie Travers but to no avail. Convicted of Angie's murder, Pam is sentenced to 125 years in Wentworth Prison where her new friends help her to settle into the dreary routine of prison life. And, in an award-winning scene of overwhelming tragedy, torment and tears, Ray and Pam are divorced. Meanwhile in London, newly knighted Lord Warren, Earl of Cronkshonk, finds himself trapped between the foxy Princess Di and the braying hounds of the Fleet Street gutter press. Back in Wentworth, Dick fulfills his contract with God; in a sensitive cellblock ceremony he marries Pam in front of her woodland friends and his life is saved. George Slabb wrestles with problems of family life and pops the big question to Matron. Flattered by his proposal, Matron decides she needs time to think...

Ray comes to terms with single parenthood and Slabb discovers the joys of family life. THe staff pull together to save the hospital but it is auctioned to a mysterious bidder. Meanwhile, Pam settles into prison life while in her new home, Matron makes a toast to domestic bliss. Arrested by a heartbroken Slabb, Matron is sent down for the murder of her daughter and Pam discovers her new cellmate. And once again, Ray reverts into a seven year old child.

Pam and Matron attempt to escape from the notorious Wentworth prison in the most expensive special effects sequence ever filmed in Australia (the producer wishes to reassure viewers that NO live animals were killed in the process... well one stunt duck was badly singed, but they get paid to take risks like that!). Freed by a fortunate plot, Pam and Matron return back to their beloved St Christopher's — back to the custody battle over the love of baby booey, back to a new husband, back to an old friend, back to old habit, back to Warren. Haunted by Effie's ghost, he vows that she will live again, that he would become... the Reanimator!
