   YEUNG KUO HAI has to help his mother LAI HAN to clean the pig farm every morning. This causes him to be late for class. Due to being often scolded by teachers together with his poor family background, he is expelled by most of his classmates. LAI HAN's father is originally a big landlord and she lives leisurely since birth. After liberation, she is arranged to work in a pig farm near the countryside of Guangdong. As she cannot tolerate the hard life, she keeps on recalling her past luxurious lifestyle. LAI HAN often persuades her husband SHU KEN to apply to move to Hong Kong. She even wants to corrupt the officials so that they could have the chance to move to Hong Kong but is finally in vain.    SHU KEN follows one lorry driver to reach the Seven Best restaurant in Sheung Wan unintentionally. He feels so hungry that he eats the food waste in a barrel. Auntie CHEUNG sees this and instructs him to clean the dishes for compensation. When he is washing dishes, he faints due to over-exhausted. Uncle SEVEN rescues him and also arranges him to work in the restaurant. This provides SHU KEN a stable living. SHU KEN follows Uncle SEVEN to go to KAN's house to help decorating a gathering. When he sees WAI CHUNG playing piano, he recalls the scene of LAI HAN teaching in the primary school. He again feels very sad about the fate of his family.    CHUNG's father notices that WAI CHUNG has not backed for the whole night. When he sees her and SHU KEN together in the morning, he misunderstands that they have some subtle relationship. After CHUNG's explanation and also due to his trust for SHU KEN's frankliness, he believes that they are unspotted. SHU KEN is troubled by his colleagues' rumour and understands that it will ruin CHUNG's reputation. He arranges to meet her and requests her to ask her father to break the rumour in public. But WAI HO just passes by and presumes that KEN wants to steal his love. He becomes very angry and gives SHU KEN a strong hit. WAI CHUNG takes care of SHU KEN's wounds. With extremely bad mood, they comfort and fall in love with each other. CHUNG's father being old and weak realizes their love affairs and suddenly initiates to marry CHUNG to KEN.… ...

   When LAI HAN arrives at the hospital, she sees WAI CHUNG has borne a baby for SHU KEN. She runs away hopelessly and cries. LAI HAN feels so regret of the past act of smuggling which breaks their family. With sorrow and shame, she goes back to Guangdong with KUO HAI. CHUN CHUEN who his mother with his son, KEI PO, and the family of four has a very happy gathering. When SHU KEN knows that LAI HAN and their son are still alive, he feels very ashamed. He wants to confess but does not have any news about them. He cannot face himself. WAI CHUNG understands and forgives him. This makes him feel more ashamed. During the three years time, SHU KEN keeps on searching for LAI HAN and their son through different channels but not successful. He feels very regretful. KUO HAI's girlfriend YUEN LEE understands his situation. She encourages him to hauedo his own way and disregards others' scandals. KUO HAI goes to Hong Kong for the first time and is not influenced by the capitalized wonderful world. In contrast, due to his hardworking and willingness to learn, he is greatly appreciate by his supervisor. KUO HAI goes to find LAI YIN but cannot find him.
