Hand of Hope

1. E1. Episode 1

   WA is a 17-year-old juvenile delinquent. He was imprisoned as he had committed criminal trashing. Being counselled for a period of time, WA runs a new life. However he is still being humiliated by his colleagues. He is even framed as a sex maniac on a bus by three passengers. He begs Inspector MAN to let him go. However MAN insists on formalising the procedure of accusation. At last he is condemned to imprisonment. There he is beaten up by some bad guys so seriously that he dies. YAN blames himself as he cannot give a helping hand in the case to avoid the tragedy. On the other hand YAN's good friend WAI returns and WAI wants to be a teacher. However WAI is killed by a juvenile delinquent FAI. WAI is hurt and bleeds seriously by FAI, who wants to steal WAI's car but in vain.

2. E2. Episode 2

   Feb 14, 1995 · 47m

   YAN realises that being a social worker can do nothing to help the others. In despair, he decides to resign. However he regards his faith as WAI reports to the police, being convinced by TUNG - his colleague. LOK and TING are instructed to learn from YAN as they are new comers. They take active approach to know three problem girls - SEE, CAT and PEGGY. CAT is a sexy girl and she has many boyfriends. This enables her to enjoy the materialistic life; PEGGY is a predatory to telling lies. She admires LOK; SEE loves her old grandmother but she hates her mother as her mother is selfish and irresponsible. SEE comes across DEE and they are gravitated towards each other rapidly. SEE leads DEE home to meet her grandmother. Her mother is angry and taunts SEE.

3. E3. Episode 3

   SEE is frustrated and wants to commit suicide. YAN manages to convince SEE to give up her act. YAN knows more about SEE. He learns that SEE and her mother were abandoned by her father. Her mother works in a restaurant and she always seduces men. Her mother takes little care of SEE. He goes to counsel SEE's mother but she refuses to take his advice as she regards SEE as a hopeless crook. YAN is depressed to see that SEE and CAT go to work as P.R. in a karaoke. They turn a deaf ear to YAN. PEGGY admires LOK and courts him. After discussion, the authority decides to transfer her case to TING.

4. E4. Episode 4

   Feb 16, 1995 · 47m

   PEGGY continues to entangle LOK. LOK is annoyed. SEE's grandmother suffers from suffocation. She seeks help from YAN. YAN sends her to hospital and informs SEE's mother. At last she dies. SEE blames her mother and decides to leave home. CAT admires DEE and seduces him behind SEE. DEE takes her willingly. SEE finds some woman wears in DEE's house. Knowing that he is not loyal to her, SEE is angry. She hits DEE with an ash tray and hurts DEE. Later SEE regrets hitting DEE and makes apology. DEE humiliates her but SEE endures him.

5. E5. Episode 5

   Feb 17, 1995 · 47m

   Finally SEE knows the filthy relationship between DEE and CAT. The next day, SEE wanders outside DEE's flat with PEGGY. PEGGY finds that SEE is very unstable. Therefore she goes to call YAN. Meanwhile DEE appears with CAT. Their intimate behaviour inspires SEE's anger. SEE attacks CAT with strong acid and thrusts a dagger into DEE's body. YAN arrives and is shocked by the scene. SEE is punished by law and is imprisoned for eight months. Her mother knows that she has done wrong and makes apology. They learn how to understand and forgive each other. CAT's face is hurt and has to undergo plastic surgery. DEE recovers completely. Learning from SEE and CAT's experience, PEGGY decides to be a good student.

6. E6. Episode 6

   TAK and MING came to Hong Kong with their parents from Mainland China. Their father was a Principal and their mother was a teacher. However their academic qualifications are not recognised in Hong Kong, they have to work as janitors. TAK has to do two jobs for the family. Their only hope is MING who is a Form 5 student. In the school, MING is discriminated by his schoolmates. As he has been trounced, TAK wants to revenge but he mistakenly beats up YAN. YAN has a chance to contact TAK and MING. They are advised to improve their communication with the others by joining the others' activities. However TAK is dismissed without a proper excuse. In despair, he meets his former friend KWONG. KWONG seems to be having a good life. Being influenced by KWONG, TAK decides to join KWONG to sell drugs in exchange for a better life.
