Ho Tung Man is a veteran cop, but still stays in a junior post as he has failed in several promotion exams. Loaded with family burden, he remains as a bachelor at the age of forty. Tung Man works hard in the hope that his brother Sun Man will become a university student. However, the outgOing Sun Man has chosen to be a cop for his career, which is objected by Tung Man. Knowing that Tung Man has d passion for Ah Oi Sun Man arranges a date for them and he makes use of the situation to ask Tung Man's approval for his joining the police force. Tung Man gives in. The hot-tempered Yeung Lung is transferred from CID to the uniformed section and has been assigned to be Tung Man's partner. To vent his frustration after the transfer, Yeung Lung hurts a suspect while on patrolling duties. Tung Man gets hurt when he tries to stop Yeung Lung. Because of his nervousness, Tung Man fails again in his promotion exam.

Thinking that Tung Man's failure is caused by him, Yeung Lung feels sorry and apologizes to Tung Man and they become good friends. After graduating from the Police Training School, Sun Man is posted to Tung Man's station. Despite his harshness in teaching Sun Man, Tung Man secretly helps him. Sun Man is assigned to work with Jin Pok, a timid and submissive cop. Feeling that Sun Man is arrogant, Jin Pok and Chow Chiu try to play trick on him. Their plot is discovered by the typist Wong Siu Yin who tells Sun Man to be careful. Knowing that they are not badly motivated, Sun Man pretends nothing has happened. Sun Man tries to make a match for Tung Man and Ah Oi. Yet, Tung Man does not have the courage to reveal his passion and misses the chance. In order to pass all his working experiences to Sun Man, Tung Man proposes to his superior to work with his brother……

Sun Man makes use of Siu Yin to play trick back on Jin Pok and Chow Chiu who believe that there is somebody behind the scene and force Siu Yin to tell the truth. Siu Yin feels uneasy. Finally Sun Man admits his mischievous acts and invites everybody to dinner. All the misunderstanding finally resolves. While having a drink in a lounge with her colleagues, Siu Yin sheds tears when she hears somebody singing a song on stage, praisinq the grace of all parents. It is found out that Siu Yin is an orphan and was raised in the Po Leung Kok. The upbringing makes her feel inferior. Sun Man pacifies her and Siu Yin begins to have an affection to Sun Man. Sun Man is attracted by the wealthy yet arrogant Yuk Chee. However he finds her difficult to approach. Tung Man and Sun Man are assigned to protect a wealthy spinster Hung Sau Yin. Sau Yin lives on the inheritance by his grandfather……

Sau Yin was brought to a quiet beach by her persistent adorer Mok Lap Chung who forces her to be her wife. Luckily, Tung Man turns up and saves her. He then takes Sau Yin back to the police station to give evidence. While Sau Yin is giving her evidence, Tung Man teases her. Sau Yin feels offended and complains Tung Man for his poor attitute. Fearing that his brother's career may be affected by his poor record, Tung Man apologizes to Sau Yin and begs her to withdraw her complaints. Sau Yin agrees. Seeing that Tung Man remains guarding outside her house under the heavy rain, Sau Yin asks the Amah to bring an umbrella to him. Tung Man rejects, thinking that it is not proper for a cop to hOid an umbrella during his service. Sau Yin gradually changes her impression on Tung Man. In order to prove that Sun Man does love her, Yuk Chee lies that she will be leaving for Australia……

Tung Man loses confidence in himself as he gets hurt when working with Sun Man. On the contrary, Sun Man is highly commended by his superior. Feeling disheartened, Tung Man decides to resign and start his aquarium business with Jin Pok and Choi Lap Tak. Yuk Chee's boyfriend is arrested as he is suspected to be involved in narcotics. Yuk Chee's father decides to send her to study overseas. That makes up a chance for Yuk Chee and Sun Man to develop their relationship. Knowing that Sun Man has a date with Yuk Chee, Siu Yin is worried. Encouraged by her close friend, Siu Yin decides to reveal her love to Sun Man. However, she is heartbroken when she sees Man and Chee are very intimate. Tung Man finds out that the location he wants to rent for his business belongs to Sau Yin. He also has stopped Sau Yin's lawyer from cheating her. Sau Yin finally decides to let her space to Tung Man. The two start to be in good term.
